The European Sustainable Healthcare Awards are back in 2025, celebrating the amazing work happening across Europe to accelerate progress towards a sustainable healthcare sector.
Organised by Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) Europe and sponsored by Philips, the Awards recognise sustainability projects and individuals that are making a real difference in reducing the environmental impact of healthcare activities across Europe.
We are now accepting applications, inviting organisations and individuals to share their innovative efforts in creating a more sustainable healthcare sector. Apply by 17 February 2025!
The awards feature two categories:
The Sustainable Project of the Year Award celebrates innovative and impactful solutions for driving sustainable healthcare.
- An award for outstanding sustainability practices in European healthcare from the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals (GGHH) network. A GGHH member hospital/facility will be recognised for excellence in a specific sustainability project. Entries are welcomed about innovative and impactful projects that have been approached collaboratively and have impact and reach beyond the hospital walls. Projects must demonstrate tangible results in creating a climate-smart, or toxic-free healthcare.
The Sustainability Champion of the Year Award recognises an individual who goes above and beyond to make a positive change in healthcare’s sustainability efforts.
- This person is an individual who champions environmentally friendly practices and inspires others to do the same. Entries are open to anyone working in healthcare. Those working in the sustainable healthcare community are invited to nominate (or self-nominate) an individual they work with who is crucial in driving sustainability efforts at their organisation and beyond.
A renowned judging panel, comprised of HCWH staff and expert partners from around the world, will assess each entry based on six criteria: internal collaboration, cost/benefit, replicability, innovation, impact, and reach.
“These awards recognise and celebrate the very best in sustainable healthcare practice in Europe.”
— Will Clark, former Executive Director, Health Care Without Harm Europe
