We work closely with the healthcare sector to reduce the impact of pharmaceuticals on the environment and human health at all stages of their life cycle.

To ensure the continued efficacy of key medicines, healthcare must address the overuse and misuse of antimicrobials.

We work closely with health professionals across Europe to ensure responsible antibiotic prescribing practices. We also advocate for antimicrobial waste reduction and better management where reducing waste is not possible.

By advocating for ambitious measures throughout the life cycle of medicines, we work to minimise the entry of pharmaceutical residues into the environment.

A crucial part of our work mobilises pharmacists to use their trusted voices to advocate the sustainable and responsible use and disposal of pharmaceuticals.
