Health Care Without Harm Europe welcomes Mark Wilson as its new Executive Director

We’re delighted to announce that Mark Wilson begins work this week as Health Without Harm Europe’s new Executive Director. 

Mark is an experienced leader of international health, development and humanitarian organisations, having spent nine years as CEO of Cochrane - the world’s leading producer of synthesised healthcare evidence - and eleven years with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, where he was a member of the senior management team. Mark has also provided CEO-level consulting services to European NGOs, and held a series of operational humanitarian roles across Europe and Africa, leading diverse teams to respond to crises of both conflict and public health.

Mark takes over from our outgoing Executive Director, Will Clark, who stepped down earlier this year but continued to support the organisation in this time of transition. In Mark’s words:

“I’m delighted to join Health Care Without Harm Europe and its leading role in building more sustainable healthcare systems and networks across the continent and the world. This is a fundamental challenge for the health sector in the next decade, and I am looking forward to working closely with our members, partners and supporters who are addressing it every day across 29 countries. 

I am excited by the opportunity of expanding still further the influence and impact of HCWH and its members on healthcare policy and practice in the coming years.”
