Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a major global health threat that must be addressed and whilst this important issue is gaining the attention it deserves, journalists might still have fundamental questions in the run-up to the World Antibiotic Awareness Week, 18-24 November.
“Antimicrobial resistance is one of the most urgent health risks of our time and threatens to undo a century of medical progress.”
– Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director General
World Antibiotic Awareness Week is organised by the World Health Organization (WHO) and aims to increase awareness of global antibiotic resistance and to encourage best practice among the general public, health workers, and policy makers to avoid the further emergence and spread of antibiotic resistance.
As well as helping to raise awareness with this press kit, HCWH Europe aims to also support journalists and other stakeholders who are discussing and writing about antimicrobial resistance by providing key information and expert opinion of the causes and solutions to this global health threat.
