A call to action: Child health and the climate crisis

Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) Europe, the European Children’s Hospitals Organisation (ECHO), and representatives from children’s hospital youth advisory groups are calling for children’s hospitals to take urgent action and lead in the fight against climate change to protect child health in a joint commentary.

The article, published in the Lancet Child & Adolescent Health, highlights that the climate crisis is a child health crisis and that children’s hospitals should therefore be leaders in the transition to a zero-carbon healthcare sector. 

HCWH Europe can support hospitals on this journey through the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals network, the Health Care Climate Challenge, and the Race to Zero initiative - a UN-backed campaign to rally non-state actors to deliver a zero-carbon recovery.
