Building healthcare climate resilience in Europe: tools, resources, and policy
Featuring the LIFE RESYSTAL project tools
As climate change intensifies, healthcare systems are increasingly affected by extreme weather events such as droughts, floods, heat waves, and storms. These challenges underline the urgent need for climate-resilient healthcare systems that can continue to deliver critical services during such crises, protecting communities while also promoting sustainability.
As defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) a climate-resilient health system is “capable of anticipating, responding to, coping with, recovering from, and adapting to climate-related shocks and stress, to bring about sustained improvements in population health, despite an unstable climate.”
In this webinar, Championing Healthcare Climate Resilience in Europe, we introduced the tools and resources developed through the LIFE RESYSTAL project to strengthen the resilience of healthcare facilities. We then welcomed a panel of expert speakers to explore and discuss key policies that can increase the climate resilience of Europe’s health systems, enabling them to not only withstand crises but also thrive in an era of climate uncertainty.
The webinar featured the launch of a brand-new flagship publication from HCWH Europe: the Practical Guide for Building Climate-Resilient Health Systems. This novel resource offers a roadmap for integrating climate resilience into healthcare planning. We encourage you to access it now and share your feedback with us.
