Climate Action in Practice: A Training on Target-Setting and Strategic Advocacy in the Healthcare Sector

Ready to turn climate knowledge into organisational action? Join us on 23 July!

Understanding greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprints is just the first step. You also need to translate that data into meaningful, strategic action.

This focused 75-minute training is designed to help those in healthcare sustainability move from climate awareness to implementation. Whether you're a clinician passionate about sustainability or a sustainability manager tasked with delivering a climate strategy, join HCWH Europe on Wednesday, 23 July for a focused 75-minute session designed to bridge the gap between carbon footprint assessment and strategic climate action. This takes the form of fundamentals to help you set effective mitigation targets and the advocacy skills to turn plans into progress. Learn how to transform emissions data into science-based targets, and gain the advocacy skills needed to secure leadership buy-in for real organisational change!

Who should attend

This training is ideal for healthcare professionals (both clinicians and administrative staff) passionate about sustainability, as well as sustainability professionals or environmental leads in healthcare facilities who need guidance on target-setting and building internal support for climate initiatives.

While knowledge of carbon footprinting and emissions baselines is helpful, it's not essential - we'll cover the foundational concepts you need to understand target-setting and advocacy.

What you’ll learn

  • How to set science-based mitigation targets tailored to healthcare settings
  • The difference between various target types (absolute, intensity-based, net-zero) and when to use each
  • Real-world examples from Race to Zero healthcare members who are successfully implementing emission reduction targets
  • Strategic advocacy techniques to gain support from executive teams
  • How to frame climate initiatives through a lens that resonates with senior management
